Best aurora outburst I have personally witnessed from south-central Nebraska (41N). Taken with a Pentax K-3 and a Sigma EX 30mm f1.4. Exposure info: 13 sec at f/1.8, ISO 400.

As seen on Flickr Explore (the vertical image - right thumbnail). On that vertical shot, the bright stars in the upper left are Dubhe and Merak (the end of the cup of the Big Dipper). That is how high the aurora were off the horizon, which is just incredible from 40.9222 N.
