It should however be noted that there is no recorded EXIF data with these images.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that would allow for the superimposition of different images, say a close up of trees (which appear in passable focus) and REALLY, TRULY and GREAT shots of sprites that may nevertheless have not taken up as much of the sky as the images suggest.
