Details:
This was a very lucky catch because I had to estimate how far up from the storm cell the sprites might appear and I had a very narrow FOV with the 50mm lens I was using.

I used a Canon T3 camera modified for full spectrum photography with a 50mm lens set to F/1.8 for 2 seconds at iso 3200.

esplaobs....This is sprite lightning and it only occurs during the discharge of a very powerful lightning bolt known as a +CG bolt. It appears to be in space here but it is actually 80 km above the earth. The red color it emits are nitrogen molecules being excited by the electrons flowing through them.
