I was flying for Pittsburgh to Iceland on my way home from visiting from mother in law who has not been well. I made sure to sit on the left hand side of the aircraft just in case of aurora.
Before we took off I checked space weather and saw a coronal hole might give us some luck and sure enough the sky exploded with light. I and several other passengers were mesmerised by this stunning display.

Wow, you were right about that previous upload- it is weird looking! Im not even sure how you could get that effect. One might almost think it was from the material of the planes window- you know how it sometimes gets that crazed look and you cant see clearly through it- but then how would the 2nd pic be clear? Excellent shot, anyway. lw
