Details:
I was searching Google Earth to see if I can find an updated image of the Arecibo Observatory from after Hurricane Maria. At first I wasnt surprised that there was a plane flying over the Observatory because after the Hurricane there were a lot of planes and helicopters flying over the Island, but when I checked the date the image was taken, it read Feb 21, 2017, which is way before the Hurricane.

As for the iridescent shadow, it looks to me like this is similar to Glory but instead of the colors surrounding the dark shadow of the plane, here we have the colors within the shadow. I sent the image to Les Cowley to see what he thinks.

Also, the contrail of the plane seems to indicate that the plane was zigzagging or could the upper level winds cause the snake-like contrail?

I just now realized that the snake-like contrail was caused by the 3D effect which is added by Google earth.

yeah, that zig-zag is too tight, and well beyond the capabilities of anything flying at the speed required to keep that plane in the air!

yes, the zig-zag is a google earth artifact, it tracks the waving sequence of undulations of the soil elevation

Its only an artefact, the images are created in different colour channels and sometimes these channals slip. Lot of similar images can be found in GE or GM.

Heres a link about it on GE blog: https://www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives/2015/03/planes-flight-rainbow-effect.html

Thanx Monika!!! The explanation they give makes a lot of sense and fits what I posted here. It turns out that both the zig-zag contrail and the rainbow shadow are just artifacts of Google Earth.

I just got a reply from Les Cowley and he also pointed out that even the buildings are distorted. He knew all along what was going on in this image.
