Following some recent comments, I thought followers of this gallery might be interested in the Window-sill observatory.
All the solar images I post are acquired like this, and many of the other images also. Here are 2 examples, and pictures of the Observatory.
It simply shows that you do not have to have complicated expensive equipment to get quite pleasing images.
