Would like to hear more about what do you mean by composite
Posted by rmerzlyakov 2019-02-07 15:00:20
composite means the photographer took 22 images(acccording to his information) and stiched, stacked, or combined various parts of each together with photo editing software to create the desired affect. a couple images focused on the sky + a couple images focused on the foreground + a couple images of the sea + a couple images with the lens cap on + a couple images of the entire scene with focus set at infinity.

+ a couple images well before the sunrise, + a couple images of the pre dawn.

I wouldnt call my image for composite, as many people define the word composite as fake - or composed of different exposures, which were not taken at the same time.
This image is a panorama - every single frame was taken at the same time - one after another within 20 minutes.
Image stacking is not the same as composite :)

To begin with, all astronomical images are fake; theyre not what were able to see. The top starry star-scape alone, with excellent red nebulosity recorded is impossible to see unless one manipulates the emulsion or digital data and includes color information for H-α. I suppose that 4 letter word fake is offensive, thats why we use panorama and stacking; these are acceptable. Similarly, composite shouldnt offend. As an amateur astronomer for 43 years, Ruslans very nice panorama is clearly a composite (yes, a fake) to my eyes.
