Details:
Had a rather unexpected surprise while attempting the Messier Marathon tonight when noticing the northern sky looking a bit brighter than usual. An exposure confirmed that the aurora borealis was indeed visible all the way into south eastern Montana tonight! Albeit rather dimly (barely visible to the unaided eye) and only for about 20-30 minutes.

Details: Nikon D800 with Tamron G2 sp 24-70mm lens: f/2.8, 24mm, ISO-6400, 20 sec exposure (first picture)

f/2.8, 50mm, ISO-6400, 15 sec exposure (second picture)
