I just recently decided to re-visit the Gigantic Jet I recorded back on Sept 20, 2021. As soon as Paul Smith saw the video of my GJ, he commented that he noticed a diffused patch of green, known as a "GHOST", just after the top half of the GJ disappeared. The moon was full that night so it wasn't very noticeable. To make it a little more noticeable I decided to enhance it just enough to show the diffused green patch. It turns out that not only very bright sprites will produce a GHOST, but also very bright Gigantic Jets. Very little is known about this newly discovered diffused patch of green, but so far it is believed to possibly be the result of electrons exciting oxygen molecules. The "GHOST" was discovered by both Hank Schyma and Paul Smith when they noticed that in some of their sprite images, there was a diffused patch of green visible just after the sprite disappeared.
