Details:
The second night of storm action that began with higher Kp index than last night but after 5 hours of nothing, most of us gave up. However, I stayed put and again at nearly the same time as last night the storm hit with even greater ferocity and lasted about 45 minutes. The strength was so sudden that more than a dozen bizarre unrelated shapes were seen over the entire sky at the same instant changing appearance over sub-second time scales. An overhead corona exploded and changed the white snow to an iridescent green. I took over 300 images and after it was all over a Black Brant rocket shot into the Poker Flats Research Range carrying an aurora investigation payload.
