Wow what an amazing night! Suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, checked and crunched the numbers, and headed out just in time for the peak of the show. Amazingly not only was I able to photograph them inside the heart of the city of Kalispell despite all the light pollution but even more amazingly during an almost full moon! The colors were very visible even to the naked eye for a brief period of time. It's very rare to see the Aurora Borealis here in Montana with a full moon. And Kalispell is the fastest growing micropolitan area in the US, and sadly about to become a metropolitan area with all our new developments. I'm so thankful for what dark skies we have left. The city's biggest park did provide darker skies too. It was a very active and beautiful show!
