Details:
Deep CCD image of Mercury’s tail taken through my 135mm lens. For the tail I used a filter tuned to the orange-yellow glow of sodium. The brightness of the tail reached its maximal brightness because of the Doppler shift (Sodium D-lines)! That’s a very interesting fact. See also one of the unprocessed single frames of this night.
