Here’s a different perspective from the lunar eclipse on May 15, 2022. When I began thinking about my approach to this total eclipse, I thought about my previous experiences under an eclipsed moon. One of my favorite memories from a number of years ago was experiencing the darkness during totality. A full moon typically brings out almost ‘daylight' conditions, with minimal starlight visible. Experiencing the moon transition from such a bright state to totality was an incredible experience. I remember clearly seeing the Milky Way and most of the stars that would typically be seen without moonlight. This image tries to capture that mystical display to show just how many stars are visible during a total lunar eclipse. The final image is a panorama taken in the badlands of New Mexico. The final image includes roughly 13 images and was taken during totality of the eclipse.
