Details:
I calculated out that NW Montana would see the northern lights for a very brief period of time, both because it would be a quick show because of the data and it's one of the shortest nights of the year. I got into position, and sure enough, the activity lasted for about 5 minutes. The noctilucent clouds were a very nice surprise too. 1st sighting of the year after an incredibly cloudy year here. 1st time we are seeing the stars again in a long time too, because of the above mentioned clouds.
