Details:
There was nothing in the forecast but I kept checking and notice the wind density and speed climbing fast. The auroral oval appeared to double in size rapidly and I went to a spot with a clear view north over Lake Superior from the Apostle Islands near Bayfield, Wisconsin.
The SAR Arc was invisible to us, but it showed up insanely bright in the pictures for a long time.. well over 1 hour. The Kp index went from 1 to 6 in no time flat.. Auroras were overhead for a while and this made for one amazing night.
