Details:
On Sep 7th I started a timelapse at 8:50pm of Venus setting, and it so did 20 minutes later. I noted at the time that my planetarium program predicted there'd be no Venus in the sky at all at 8:50pm 10 days later on Sep 17th.
Here's the proof. I have combined both timelapses aligning them along the mountaintops. Today Venus set at 8:44pm behind the mountains. Even if I had been at the beach I would've been off by only 1 day--on Sep 18th it sets at 8:49pm.
Note that Venus' setting azimuth is creeping southward. It reaches its southernmost point on the horizon on Oct 3rd.
Tonight's timelapse has 2 breaks in it, the higher one due to clouds blocking Venus, and the lower one due to swapping camera batteries.
