Details:
Mars and Jupiter are heading for their November 16 conjunction, which is a prelude to their near simultaneous oppositions in Leo next February. Having Jupiter and Mars attain opposition at nearly the same time is a rare event, last occurring in 1980 when they experienced a triple conjunction. They are the two brightest planets that can appear in our midnight sky, so this should offer interesting opportunities for astrophotography next February.
