Europe G2 Kp 6 : US Kp 4- and only breadcrumbs to pick once again. This was a distant storm that came out of nowhere. The arc buildup receded, GOES magnetometers started slowly rising, nothing indicated a substorm. Then the greens brightened and columns sprouted and within 5 minutes the show was over. It was magical. Aurora will always do its thing and likely stay this unpredictable for years to come. Chimney Bluffs State Park, NY, 43N. Nikon Z7, 20mm f1.8, 15 sec, ISO 3200, WB 3500, slightly cropped.
